The Caribbean island of Saint Lucia attracts tourists throughout the year, providing equally for those who wish to spend their time relaxing and those in search of adventure and exciting activities.

Much of this beautiful island is mountainous and covered in rainforest: you're guaranteed to be taken aback by the breathtaking views of the Petit Piton and Gros Piton rising out of the pristine Caribbean Sea.

And there is plenty to explore on the 238 square-mile island: you can climb the famous Piton mountains, trek through the rainforest, visit the Sulphur Springs of Soufriere or experience the beautiful Caribbean coral reef, for example.

Thrill seekers can take advantage of a wide range of water sports and mountain biking trails, foodies can indulge in the diverse cuisine and those in need of some R&R can relax on the beautiful palm-fringed beaches or even in a mud bath or volcanic pool.

Beaches are golden in the north and mostly silvery in the volcanic south.

The northern part of the island is more populated and more popular with tourists because the land is flatter and therefore home to most of the hotels on the island. Here you will also find the capital of the island, Castries. The southern half is mountainous and more suitable for activities like scuba diving and snorkeling.
