A beekeeper has set a new world record for having the most bees on his body in Tan'an, northern China's Shandong Province.

In order to set the record, Gao Bingguo covered himself in 326,000 bees weighing around 32.6kg.

Gao, 54, has been raising bees for more than 30 years.

To begin with Gao washed himself thoroughly as getting rid of human smells can reduce the number of bee stings.

After the bath, he had 60 queen bees boxes attached to his body to attract the worker bees.

As helpers dumped boxes of bees at his feet, it took around two and a half hours for Gao to become completely covered.

After the bees were removed, Gao immediately immersed himself in a pot of warm water to ease the sting pains. Gao said he was stung approximately 2,000 times.

Back in May, a swarm of 5,000 bees colonised the window of a shop in the middle of London.

The insects caused a buzz when they nested on a sign on the window of Topshop in Victoria Street.

The Queen bee landed on the unusual nesting place and was quickly followed by her colony, turning the window into a carpet of buzzing bees.

Scores of Londoners stopped to take photographs of the unusual sight, in the heart of busy central London.
