British families are being charged £500 more than French families for identical holiday packages to Disneyland Paris, it has been revealed.

Customers booking a stay for two adults and two children on the UK site are being charged more than on the French site, but the packages are exactly the same.

This particular price gap is based on a four-night break at the end of June.

British customers trying to book a stay at the five-star Disneyland Hotel are being charged £3,331 on the UK site, but French customers are being offered the same break for £2,892.

The forms, booking process and details on meals, accommodation and park entry tickets are identical on each site. But only those with French home addresses can use the French page.

However, one mum Chloe Burgin found a way around it. She rang the UK booking office to ask for the French deal, but was told she could not have it.

She then rang the French booking office, and got the better deal.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, she said: "They couldn't be more helpful. Not only were we able to book the package, they gave us a better hotel for the same price."

Other packages throughout the summer are also between £300 and £400 more expensive, reports the Daily Mail.

Speaking to the BBC, travel journalist Simon Calder said: "Disneyland Paris wants to extract the most it possibly can out of every different nationality and therefore if you're British, Belgian, German, Dutch you'll be used to the idea that you're going to go there for two or three days pay quite a lot of money and hopefully have a lots of fun.

"If you live in France, particularly if you're one of the millions of people living close to Disneyland Paris, well you might have been there three times already and you're going to need to be bribed back by a very cheap ticket."

A Disneyland spokesperson told the BBC: "A variety of tailor-made promotions are offered at different times of the year in each market to reflect the local needs. In the case of the UK market the most popular promotions are those combining accommodation and/or travel plus park tickets so our UK promotions reflect this.

"However, any UK guest wishing to purchase an offer seen on another official Disneyland Paris website can call the reservation office on 0844 8 008 898, where there is a process in place to help them with their booking."
