To say the Middle East's luxury airlines don't do things by halves is an understatement as the likes of Emirates and Etihad will go all out to impress their wealthy passengers, with showers in first class, personal chefs and the best in-flight entertainment systems around.

But now Etihad has gone even further and unveiled a hotel-style suite in the air - complete with a personal butler, living room, bedroom and en-suite bathroom.

The Residence by Etihad has been dubbed the 'world's most luxurious living space in the air' and is only available on the airline's A380 aircraft, offering those who like to travel in style the chance to experience the levels of luxury and total privacy normally found only on private jets.

The luxury cabin was designed to transform air travel and 'make every guest journey a remarkable one.'

James Hogan, Etihad Airways' President and Chief Executive Officer, said: "These new living spaces will raise inflight product and service standards to their highest level yet in commercial aviation and alter air travellers' expectations of inflight comfort and luxury forever."

Travellers, or 'guests', in The Residence cabin can opt for single or double occupancy, and will be able to enjoy their own living room, separate double bedroom and ensuite shower room as they fly.

Guests will also have personal butlers trained at the Savoy Butler Academy in London and a dedicated VIP Travel Concierge team who will ensure every detail of their travel experience, including ground transport and cuisine are tailored to their needs.
