A crew member died after being hit by a freight train while filming a Gregg Allman biopic in Georgia, USA.

Sarah Elizabeth Jones, 27, a camera assistant, was reportedly filming movie Midnight Rider, based on the life of the American rock and blues singer, when she was killed.

The Daily Mail reports that the movie crew were working on the train tracks when the crash happened.

According to Variety, Wayne County Sheriff detective Joe Gardner told reporters the case was being treated as homicide "until we have more information".

He added that the crew had permission to film next to the train tracks.
