Formula 1 teams release images of upcoming racecars

Big changes are afoot for the 2014 Formula 1 season, most notably in the form of a new 1.6-litre turbocharged V6 engine that will replace the naturally-aspirated 2.4-litre V8s of old.

New rules also state that the machines must be more fuel efficient and environmentally friendly so a maximum 100kg fuel limit will be imposed on all cars. The race has been on to manufacture engines that not only perform to the highest levels but also sup as little fuel as possible to ensure the cars actually finish each race.

Aerodynamic changes have also put an end to exhaust diffusers the formerly used exhaust gasses for extra downforce. The front wing must also be skinnier and lower to improve safety.

The result of the new rules is a car that looks very different to Formula 1 racers of old but that hasn't stopped manufacturers shouting about their latest creations.
