Body of missing hiker found in Scottish Highlands
The body of a missing hiker from Northern Ireland has been found in the Scottish Highlands.
Michael O'Grady, from Irvinestown, was last seen leaving the Loch Ossian youth hostel heading for a walk in the Ben Alder and Loch Ossian area of the Scottish Highlands in "blizzard conditions" on 22 December.
Members of the Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team searching for the 64-year-old found the body of a man in the Corrour area to the west of Ben Alder.
The Ben Alder area is a desolate part of the Scottish Highlands, but Chief Inspector Mike Whitford described Mr O'Grady as "a very experienced hillwalker and mountaineer".
A spokesman for Police Scotland told the Belfast Telegraph: "Police believe this to be the body of missing climber Michael O'Grady, from Northern Ireland, who was reported overdue on 6 January."
The BBC reports that there appeared to be no suspicious circumstances.
