British millionaire accused of 'forcing woman to perform oral sex' on Bondi Beach

A British tourist who has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman on Bondi Beach in Australia allegedly told his victim that the case would never "go anywhere" because he was rich.

Gregory Charles Cox, who founded the Quintessential Finance Group, is accused of forcing the then-21-year-old to perform oral sex on him after meeting her at beach bar The Bucket List in January 2012.

The 32-year-old tycoon faces two charges of having sexual intercourse without consent.

Cox has pleaded not guilty.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Crown Prosecutor Elizabeth Wilkins SC told a jury that the woman had kissed and exchanged numbers with Cox's friend but also talked to Cox about the private school he attended in England.

After hours of drinking they took a walk on the beach together.

Prosecutor Huw Baker said: "She recalls being on her knees and she tried to stand up but being unable to stand up because something was holding her down. She recalls being terrified at that point."

The Daily Mail reports that she cried and told Cox to stop.

The woman claimed that Cox said: "You can tell the police, you can tell whoever you like but this will never go anywhere – I've got a lot of money."

A young couple heard her cries and took her to a police station.

Cox was on holiday in Australia and was staying at a luxury apartment in Bronte, a few miles from Bondi.

Graeme Turnbull, defending, said that Cox told friends the woman "freaked out" after the sex act, threw her handbag in the air and ran off.

The trial continues.
