Pensioner tries to kill mother over care home fees

Ronald Barham, a 74-year-old devoted son, is in custody after admitting trying to kill his 93-year-old mother Elsie in her care home. He said he was driven to it by the stress of caring for his wife, who suffers from dementia, and the cost of his mother's care home fees.

The pressure of paying for her care sent him over the edge.
