Often criticised for its polluting engines and noisy exhausts, the Range Rover has never been the choice of wheels for those who respect the green planet we live on.

But a new range of diesel hybrids aims to placate, if not convert, the environmentalists with its significantly lower CO2 levels and much improved fuel economy.
