Snake owner reveals six-foot 'hungry' boa on the loose in South Yorkshire

A six-foot boa constrictor is on the loose in South Yorkshire and its owner has warned that the "hungry" snake could attack pets.

The reptile, Bo, has not eaten for nearly a fortnight and was due to be fed when it escaped, owner Corrine Swann told the Daily Mail.

She added that it was generally non-threatening but urged neighbours to be on their guard.

Corinne's partner Damion told The Sun: "We usually feed her once a week on large rats and it was almost the time of the week for feeding when she escaped.

"I'm worried that if she gets too hungry she could go for a rabbit or small cat."

After two sleeping brothers were strangled by a 13ft python in Canada this week, Damion said: "That was a tragedy, but people don't need to worry about Bo.

"I have three young kids and she's fine with my five-year-old holding her. She's been with children since we got her 2½ years ago and isn't a threat."

Police have joined the snake hunt in Rotherham and Bo's owners have said they just want their pet back.

Boa constrictors are not poisonous but have painful bites.
