A British woman is fighting for her life after being hit by a speedboat while swimming off the coast of Greece.

Hollyann Schofield, 49, is in a medically-induced coma after suffering massive internal injuries and broken bones, including her pelvis, reports The Sun.

Her sister, Jonna, 52, has flown to her bedside, and is currently trying to raise the £30,000 needed to fly her home for life-saving treatment.

Hollyann has lived in Lindos, Rhodes, since last Christmas, and was taking her regular dip in the sea when she was hit by the boat coming into shore from a yacht.

Her own partner recently died after suffering a heart attack while swimming in the sea.

Meanwhile, in May, the mother hurt in a tragic speedboat accident in Cornwall that claimed the lives of her husband and daughter had her leg amputated.

Nick and Victoria Milligan, from Wandsworth in South London, were on a Bank Holiday weekend away in Padstow, Cornwall, with their four children when their boat ran out of control, throwing them into the water and running them over with its propellor.

Sky TV executive Nick, 51, and the couple's eight-year-old daughter Emily died in the accident.
