The moment when a drunk passenger assaulted his plane's pilot has been caught on camera by a fellow passenger at Dulles International Airport, Washington, D.C.

The man, who has been named as Donald Gee, 53, was waiting for a delayed United Airlines flight to Philadelphia. At the start of the video he is seen subjecting the pilot to a drunken rant, as he complains about the delay.

He briefly returns to his seat, but the exchange quickly becomes more heated.

The pilot tells him: "You ain't getting on an airplane tonight!"

To which Mr Gee responds: "F*** you! Yeah, well you pay for my hotel!"

The pilot then says: "You're going to wind up in a cell, you fat a**!

At this point Mr Gee says: "Too bad TSA's here cause I'd punch your f****** lights out."

He then staggers towards the pilot, and punches him in the head, before being dragged away by security staff.

According to NY Daily News, Mr Gee was arrested and held in lieu of a $2,500 bond.

A spokesperson for United Airlines said: "Violence against our employees is unacceptable and we will review this closely."
