A schoolboy was taken to hospital and 10 others injured after a fairground ride collapsed in St Neots, Cambridgeshire, on Friday night.

The East of England Ambulance service said the boy, 13, suffered a suspected ankle fracture in the incident on the ride dubbed The X Scream.

The Daily Mail reports that 25 people were on the ride at the time, and 10 were checked over for injuries at the scene.

According to the BBC, one eyewitness said: "I heard a loud bang and the ride fell to the ground."

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service told Cambridge News: "We were called to the fair in St Neots at about 9.25pm on Friday after reports of an accident.

"Around 25 people were riding the roller-coaster at the time, and 10 people were checked over for injuries at the scene.

"One young male suffered a suspected fractured ankle and was taken to hospital."

According to the Independent, the Health and Safety Executive is investigating the incident.
