Plane lands in Russia after undercarriage catches fire

A Boeing 737 landed safely at Vnukovo airport near Moscow yesterday, even though the landing gear was on fire.

Sky News reports that the aircraft, operated by UTair, was carrying 139 passengers, none of whom were injured.

The pilot managed to land safely, and passengers left the plane by jumping from one of the wings.

A Russian television news crew was on board the plane when the fire broke out. Cameraman Dmitry Vishkevich told Sky News: "The left leg was on fire. Tyres were punctured and the firefighters were already fighting with the fire."
