A British woman has been arrested at Ezeiza International Airport in Buenos Aires as she tried to board a UK-bound flight with 850g of cocaine concealed in her genitals.

The Daily Mail reports that the woman has now been remanded in custody at a women's prison in Buenos Aires.

The spokesman for Argentina's Ministry of Security said that the drugs, worth £100,000, had been "packed tightly into a barrel-shaped object."

The woman was under police surveillance at the time of her arrest, and federal police are now trying to identify the gang that paid her to smuggle the drugs into the UK.

The spokesperson added: "It's not the first time we've stopped a woman carrying drugs stuffed inside their private parts.

"The cocaine she was carrying would probably have fetched around £100,000 in Britain if it had been sold in small amounts."
