Star Wars VII to be filmed at Bluewater shopping centre?

Fans looking to check out the film location of the next Star Wars movie won't have to travel to a galaxy far, far away as Star Wars VII is set to be filmed in a disused quarry overlooking Bluewater shopping centre in Greenhithe, Kent.

The Sun reports that the suburban spot will be used for battle scenes, where scenes from the Doctor Who television series were also once shot.

A source said: 'Doctor Who has been filmed there and it can easily replicate other planets. They'll just have to make sure they don't include the shopping centre in any shots.'

Filmmaker JJ Abrams was announced as director of the highly-anticipated movie, and according to the Daily Mail, this news raised a few eyebrows as he is already directing rival film series Star Trek.

Episode VII of the Star Wars series is due for release in 2015.
