Paralympics presenter Sophie Morgan has accused easyJet of discriminating against disabled passengers because the company refused to let her fly to Glasgow without a travelling companion.

Sophie, 27, who uses a wheelchair, was travelling to Glasgow to film for Channel 4 News when easyJet staff told her that she could not fly alone because she was unable to reach the emergency exit unaided.

She vented her frustration on Twitter, writing: "@easyjet policy says that if you can't get to an exit unaided you HAVE to travel with a companion. But they won't pay for one #discrimination."

She added: "It's terrible. I'm not sure what's happened as I have flown with them solo before, but now I can't."

She continued: "@easyjet are so incredibly discriminative it's unforgivable. I hope someone in a position to make change, does."

A spokesperson for easyJet told the Daily Star: "If you have a particular disability in terms of your mobility then safety regulations mean we have to ask whether you are able to travel alone.

"We have spoken to Sophie and we are happy to have her as a passenger in the future."

easyJet claimed that Sophie had been given the wrong information by her travel agent and agreed to pay for her to travel to Glasgow by train.
