Home repossession figures are expected to show an increase as the troubled economy starts to take its toll on households.

The Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML), which will release records for the second quarter of 2012 on Thursday, predicts that repossessions will rise from 37,000 in 2011 to 45,000 this year, as people's budgets remain under pressure at a time of high unemployment and low wage rises.
