A summer holiday is one of the only times that couples get to spend a chunk of quality time together. But unfortunately, that doesn't mean that we always get the romantic break we might have hoped for.

Tempers can flare when you spend a week or two together in a cramped hotel room - which means that most of us will have at least one bickering session during our break.

New research from latedeals.co.uk has found that more than three quarters of couples have at least two major arguments during a two-week holiday - and their survey has found the top ten things that we do to wind each other up.

Unsurprisingly, most arguments start when men are caught checking out other women by the pool or at the beach.

This is followed by disagreements about what to do: women tend to want to lie on a sun lounger while men are more inclined to be active.

Couples also struggle to agree on what or where to eat, and whether or not they are drinking too much.

Driving and map reading are the fifth most common cause of holiday arguments, and couples also fall out about packing - with women being guilty of taking too much, and men being accused of packing too little.

Women taking too long to get ready for dinner also annoy their partners, and conversations over spending too much money and what time to get to their airport also tend to end in an argument.

Finally, couples also fall out over currency conversion, as they try to work out how much something would cost in sterling.

So, just like at home, most arguments start over fairly trivial matters. But at least on holiday no one seems to argue about whose turn it is to put the bins out!
