'Racist' Tube rant woman jailed for five months

A woman who became infamous on the internet after her racist Tube rant was posted on YouTube has been jailed for 21 weeks.

Jacqueline Woodhouse was sentenced to the jail term after admitting racially aggravated intentional harassment at Westminster Magistrates' Court.

The seven-minute video, filmed by businessman Galbant Juttla, has been viewed more than 200,000 times, and shows the former secretary launching a tirade at fellow passengers on the Central Line.

Ms Woodhouse can be heard shouting: "All f****** foreign f****** s***heads", and turning to other passengers and asking: "Where do you come from? Where do you come from? Where do you come from?
"All over the world, f****** jokers. F****** country's a f****** joke.

"I would like to know if any of you are illegal? I am sure like 30% of you are. F****** jokers taking the f****** piss."

According to The Sun, District Judge Michael Snow said: "Anyone viewing it would feel a deep sense of shame that our citizens could be subject to such behaviour who may, as a consequence, believe that it secretly represents the views of other white people."

The incident occurred on the evening of 23 January 2012, at about 11pm.

According to the Telegraph, Judge Snow added: "The train was packed with people from a variety of ethnic backgrounds. The people included children.

"She became loud, foul-mouthed and aggressive. She targeted her behaviour at those who weren't white.

"She directed it at those who were close to her, on occasions directly into their faces.

"She threatened violence against more than one person and it took place over a prolonged period."

He also said that he rejected suggestions by Woodhouse's legal team that she felt "deeply ashamed" of her behaviour, saying: "I find that assertion very difficult to believe.

"She initially pleaded not guilty. She changed her plea to guilty one day before her trial."

According to the prosecution, Ms Woodhouse, who lost her job after the incident and is now claiming benefits, launched her verbal attack after drinking an unknown quantity of Champagne at a party.

The judge said she would serve half her prison term behind bars, and banned her from London Underground stations and the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) while drunk for five years.
