Everybody needs good neighbours - and one couple are particularly indebted to theirs after she won them a year's use of a £98,000 UK holiday home.

Paul and Michelle Williams had entered a Win a Holiday Home competition in the Birmingham Mail.

Nearly 3,000 people entered the competition to win the holiday home for a year at The Springs Lakeside Holiday Park in Pershore, Worcestershire and, from those, 10 couples were picked to attend the final held at the park this weekend.

But Paul and Michelle could not make it as they had a wedding to attend, so their neighbour Dawn Christopher stepped in on their behalf - and picked the winning ticket.

She won her friends the use of the Willerby Boston Holiday Lodge, which would normally cost £500 a week to rent, or £98,000 to buy.

Paul, 41, and the couple's two sons, Travis, 11, and Tyler, nine, are all deaf, Michelle told the Birmingham Mail the prize "couldn't have come at a more perfect time for us".

She added: "We're so glad Dawn went on our behalf – she's proved to be our lucky charm!"

We're sure she might get a little holiday out of it herself...
