When Brit Ben Southall beat 35,000 other people to the 'best job in the world' as caretaker of the Whitsunday Islands for six months, he caused unconcealed jealousy the world over.

But 10 bloggers have been given a chance to snap up the 'next best job in the world' by Tourism Queensland, who are flying them over to Australia for a week's holiday to explore what it has to offer - and hopefully promote it in their blogs, which have a combined readership of 2.5 million across the globe.

The lucky ten people will spend time cuddling up to cute koalas and snorkelling in the Great Barrier Reef.

Australian blogger Darren Rowse invited fellow bloggers to enter the competition two weeks ago, by writing in 150 words why they would make the perfect 'Queensland Blogger Correspondent'.

The ad saw 767 bloggers from 53 countries apply, and only 10 were chosen from the lot. Among the winners are two UK bloggers Stuart Flatt of Average Joes Blog, and Jackie Hutchings, from Scubadviser.

Tourism Queensland CEO Anthony Hayes told news.com.au: "In between blogging training sessions with Darren, the 10 winners will have the chance to cuddle up to some of Tropical North Queensland's native animals and taste local cuisine including fresh seafood from the Great Barrier Reef," Mr Hayes said.

"They will also sail and snorkel the Reef; visit the World Heritage-listed Daintree Rainforest and explore the Mossman River with an Indigenous guide, to name a few experiences."

Sounds terrible...
