A young man has died after stopping on to subway tracks in Chicago to relieve himself.

Zachary McKee, 27, died after coming into contact with an electrified rail while urinating at the subway stop in Evanston, Illinois, according to the Telegraph.

His friend got help from subway security, but it was too late to save him, and Zachary died an hour later at St Francis Hospital.

According to NBC Chicago, Evanston Police said the man was with two friends at the South Boulevard Purple Line station on Sunday when he jumped on to the tracks to pee.

A Chicago Transit Authority video reportedly shows that Mr McKee accidentally fell on to the electrified third rail while doing so.
