Airport security foiled a man's attempt to board a plane with a knife hidden in a mayonnaise jar at New York's JFK Airport.

According to the Associated Press, a Transport Security Administration (TSA) spokeswoman said screeners stopped the man on Tuesday as he tried to board a plane to Mexico City.

But, considering jars of mayonnaise are also banned from hand luggage in the US, his hiding spot was not a very good one.

The TSA considers mayo to be a liquid or a gel, which means passengers cannot carry it on board unless it's under 3.4 ounces, reports the Huffington Post.

According to USA Today, TSA spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein says Port Authority Police confiscated the knife and the mayonnaise, but the man was still allowed to catch his plane.

Meanwhile, just last week, one girl in America accidentally carried a knife past Transport Security Administration (TSA), had it on board - and took a photo of it as proof while in the plane toilet.
