Weather forecasters are predicting some "jolly decent" weather in time for the London 2012 Olympics - meaning the UK could be in for it the first good summer for six years.

The forecast provides a stark contrast to the washout summers of previous years, suggesting a distinctly different weather pattern is emerging.

Jim Dale, meteorologist at British Weather Services, told AOL Travel: "We're predicting some very decent weather around the time of the Olympics. I'd go far as calling it a scorcher.

"However, we have a lot of very changeable conditions before then.

While March is set to be dry, April and May will be less stable.

"We're certainly not expecting the warm and sunny spring we had last year," says Jim.

"It looks like we'll have a pretty changeable period during April and May, with wet and cool conditions looking likely. But come June and July there'll be another switch, bringing some really good weather."

The remainder of this month will remain relatively warm and dry, with temperatures are expected to reach 20C by the end of the week.

People across the country have been making the most of it , with tourists basking in parks and by the river London this week (pictured).
