Debt is blighting the lives of a whopping 70% of UK adults, according to new figures that indicate a worrying trend of self-denial.

Those in debt don't face up to the problem until they owe over £1,200 and many are turning to risky solutions, such as gambling and pay day loans. So what are the consequences and how should we deal with debt?
