Who needs Spain when you can have Skegness?

The UK weather is so balmy that ice cream stalls at the popular summer beach resort on the east coast have opened up especially for the sun seekers who are flocking there to enjoy the warm weather.

The UK is experiencing temperatures which are a whopping 10C warmer than the average for this time of year, putting the UK on a par with sunny Spain, Athens and even Italy's sunshine island of Capri.

According to the Met Office, the highest temperatures are being felt in the Midlands, north east Wales and parts of Yorkshire.

Beach resorts Great Yarmouth and Skegness are reported to have opened ice cream stalls for the influx of sunseekers, says the Daily Telegraph.

Chris Burton, a forecaster with MeteoGroup, the weather division of the Press Association, confirmed that it was "exceptionally warm for this time of year"

We'd better make the most of it though, as temperatures are set to fall again for the weekend. Rain is expected in the north and west - although there won't be much in the way of relief for the drought-ridden south east.
