An EU directive making its way through the European Parliament contains a clause which would mean a massive increase in the number of homes being repossessed in the UK. Even if banks have complete faith in an individual's ability to get back on top of their mortgage, they would have no choice but to take the house back.

And there are knock-on effects for all homeowners.
