We've heard of the Ice Hotel, but a snow church is new to us.

This beautiful building, constructed entirely out of snow and ice, has just opened in Bavaria - exactly one hundred years after villagers first built a snow church in an act of protest.

The church at Mitterfirmiansreut, near the Czech border, is made up of 1,400 cubic feet of snow. Bathed in blue light, it opened with a blessing from Dean Kajetan Steinbeisser.

The one-of-a-kind church, which can seat 200, is likely to become a major tourist attraction until the spring, when it's likely to start melting away...
