Minister defends 50p tax. Is it here to stay?

Danny Alexander, Chief Secretary to the Treasury, has said that there are no plans to get rid of the 50p rate of tax, because its proving something of a money-spinner.

The rate of tax has been controversial since it was introduced. So why would they choose to keep it?
