Two Britons killed in Majorca helicopter crash
PA
Two British men have died in a helicopter crash on the Spanish island of Majorca.
Both died instantly when the aircraft fell from the sky and rescue workers later found the two men's bodies with the burned-out wreckage.
The helicopter took off at 10.40am from Son Bonet aerodrome near Palma. It crashed in Coll de Sa Gramola, a hilly area near Andratz, in the south west.
Police sources said that the dead men - who have not been named - were both wearing Rolex watches with the time stopped at 11.20am.
A Foreign Office spokesman said: "We can confirm the death of two British nationals in a helicopter crash in Majorca."
Local media reported that the helicopter was owned by Spanish company Sloane Helicopters Ltd.
But a company representative said yesterday: "The helicopter was owned by a British man we know, who was flying at the time of the crash.
"He is a middle-aged, married man with a daughter in her 20s. He lives in the UK but was on holiday, taking a friend up."
