Teen wins American Idol place on day out at Florida theme park

A chance visit to a Florida theme park could end up in stardom for 15-year-old Joe Slater who has won himself a spot on American Idol.
On his way to a rollercoaster ride, his grandad spotted an audition for the show and encouraged the Liverpudlian to give it a try.
The judges were so wowed with his voice that they gave him a golden ticket for the televised rounds of the show where he will sing before judges Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Aerosmith legend Steve Tyler.
'I had to pinch myself to actually believe it,' he told the Mirror.
Joe's amazing journey started while on holiday in Orlando with his grandparents Charlie and Joan McHarron and sisters Millie, 10 and Massie, four.
Joan said the judges were blown away when they heard Joe sing.
He was put through to the final after winning the heat and won his televised place with a rendition of What a Wonderful World which you can hear below:
