Italy's picturesque Lake Como has been hit by a landslide causing 80 residents to be evacuated.

The homeowners were rescued by boat after roads were blocked by more than seven landslides. The biggest was in the Brienno area of the lake but a smaller landslide hit Laglio, where George Clooney has a holiday villa. The actor's villa was left undamaged.

Passengers inside a bus and car escaped unharmed after the vehicles were hit causing them to go off the road.

A local motorway was closed in both directions by authorities after the landslides leading to 10 kilometres of tailbacks.

The cause of the landslide hasn't been confirmed.
