Unlike the ballot system used for the first round of sales, the remaining tickets will be sold on a first come, first served basis as those who missed out in the earlier round are given the chance to bag seats for next year's sporting events.

Of course, the choice of events isn't quite so wide-ranging this time - of the 2.3 million tickets on sale, 1.7 million are reportedly for football matches and many of the remaining tickets are for sports such as synchronised swimming, weightlifting and judo.

Olympic organisers have faced criticism over the original ballot system, which left thousands empty-handed and others with a sizeable bill. Those who were successful found the money was taken from their bank accounts earlier this month but only now are the confirmation emails being sent out.

However, chief executive Paul Deighton is determined that two thirds of those who missed out in the first round of sales will eventually get a ticket and a third round, for those who did get tickets but want more, is due to open on July 17.

But you'll need to be up early in the morning to catch tomorrow's best seats - the sale starts at 6am and, though this latest round does not close until July 3, competition is expected to be fierce.
