Zara Phillips gets a new holiday home in Portugal

Updated

Zara Phillips not only has a wedding to look forward to this year - but also a brand new holiday home in Portugal to relax in after she's married.

Work has almost finished on the four-bedroom, four-bathroom villa Cascais, set on a 200-acre gated development 20 minutes north of Lisbon.

Locals are saying it should be ready to welcome 29-year-old Zara and her rugby-playing fiancé Mike Tindall for a pre-wedding break, if they desired.

The house, which has been described as 'relatively modest', includes a private pool and terrace, cost around £600,000 and is part of the CampoReal Golf Resort and Spa, being built by her father Captain Mark Phillips' equestrian pal Eduardo Netto de Almeida.

The couple has hinted there may not be time for a honeymoon after their 30 July wedding at Holyrood House in Edinburgh, but they do have a few days free before Tindall joins the England squad for its World Cup warm-up against Wales on 6 August.

So maybe there's time to squeeze a break at their plush new Portugal pad into the schedule...
