Disabled man must get licence for his wheelchair says DVLA

A disabled man who hoped to use a tank track wheelchair to enjoy the countryside has been told that he is not allowed to use it on public land without registering it and upgrading his driving licence.

Jim Starr, 36, has been told that he can't use the specially made chair on anything other than private land as it is 8.6 inches too wide and 15.7 stones too heavy for use on the roads or pavements.
