Video: Winter tyres vs summer tyres

Thanks to the chaos surrounding the nationwide cold snap, winter tyres have once again been cited as a solution to Britain's apparent inability to operate in the snow.

Several European countries already require motorists to fit the specialised tyres at winter by law. Deeper tread patterns and different compounds make short work of exactly the kind of snowfall we've seen recently.

But don't take our word for it. BMW has pitched this handy reminder of the effectiveness of winter tyres just in time for it to be seen by another batch of frustrated British drivers.
