Video: Alonso and Massa meet world's quickest roller coaster

So Fernando Alonso didn't get to spend another Christmas basking in the warm glow of a world title, but at least he had the honour of being one of the first people to try the newly completed Formula Rossa – the fastest roller coaster in the world.

The attraction is part of the colossal Ferrari World theme park which is about to open its doors to visitors in Abu Dhabi. Formula Rossa is designed to replicate some of the physical sensations the drivers experience in an F1 car.

Perhaps someone should have told Alonso and Massa that because they look decidedly nervous when the coaster sets off. Anyone doubting the rides' brutal acceleration or 149mph top speed should keep their eyes on the drivers' faces during the first ten seconds.
