Collins was SAS instructor before he became the Stig

Ben Collins, the former racing driver unmasked as the Stig yesterday, was also once a member of another of Britain's great mythical bodies - the SAS.

That's according to The Sun, who today claimed Collins was once a part of the territorial regiment that makes up part of the army's legendary Special Air Service.

The tabloid claims that Collins was handed an instructor's role in the Special Forces unit and helped to teach troopers 'escape and evade' driving skills.
