Police ended 30-hour clamping stand off

The clampers involved in the day-long stand-off with a driver who refused to leave his car claim that they wouldn't have backed down had they not been ordered to by police.

Head of enforcement at clamping company Citywatch Andy Martin told The Sun newspaper that he would have stayed there all week if necessary, but officers feared there might be a mini riot and told his firm to stand down and remove the clamps.
