Grand National winner gets stung for using mobile at the wheel

Updated

As the BBC coverage constantly reminded us on Saturday, Grand National winning jockey Tony McCoy had waited 15 years to win the biggest prize in steeplechase racing.

But the best day of his career was slightly tainted when he was pulled by the police on the way out of Aintree racecourse for using his mobile phone while at the wheel.

As a result he was hit with a £60 fine and three points on his licence, but as the race carried a total prize fund of £925,000, the financial penalty will probably not have been much of a worry.
