The Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire has all the right ingredients, love, thwarted ambition and dance sequences. Full of energy, its story is set in the slums of Mumbai about a young boy who has the chance to win his fortune on the Indian version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.

By the same screenwriter of Slumdog Millionaire is the old favourite The Full Monty. This 1997 film is set against the backdrop of unemployment in Sheffield. It focuses on a group of out-of-work steelworkers who decide to make money by forming a striptease act (in deference to the Chippendales).

Launching the career of Sylvester Stallone was a film he wrote and starred in, Rocky. It's about a boxer from the wrong side of the tracks, who had a shot at the heavyweight title. It has one of the most famous scenes in moviedom, the shot of Sylvester Stallone running up the steps of the Philadelphia Museum. It's enough to make you put on your jogging bottoms and go for a run (well almost).

You'll either love or hate the next film, depending upon how much you like Abba songs. Mamma Mia is a musical full of Abba hits, along with an all-star cast. It is set on a beautiful Greek island, where a woman (played by Meryl Streep) is confronted by her lovers from her youth. Very funny, with people you'd least expect to be doing an Abba song and dance routine (Pierce Brosnan anyone?).
